Jagatram Niwas was founded in 2003 by the brothers Bavinder and Mohinder Singh, together with their wives Rekha and Santosh Devi. In 2007, they were joined by Matthew Singh Toor, who is helping to develop and market the guesthouse

Getting Here

From the UK

If you are coming directly to Jagatram Niwas, you can fly by Air India to Amritsar, Punjab. Alternatively, you can book with one of the many international airlines that fly to Delhi.

Amritsar/Delhi to Jagatram Niwas

Taxis and Internal Flights: From Amritsar, we can arrange return taxi service to Jagatram Niwas (five hours). We can also arrange overnight hotel accommodation in Amritsar, if you wish to break up your journey. We are happy to include a visit to the Sikh Golden Temple complex upon your arrival or before your departure, by request (no additional charge).

We can also arrange return taxi from Delhi (nine to twelve hours). Alternatively, Kingfisher Red fly from Delhi to Kangra/Dharamsala airport, from where you can take a return taxi .

Coaches and Trains: Overnight coaches run from Delhi to Dharamsala , with return taxi to Jagatram Niwas .

Trains run from Delhi to Pathankot (approximately eight hours), from where we can pick you up for the three-hour taxi ride to Jagatram Niwas .

Arrival at Jagatram Niwas

Your taxi will bring you up from Dharamsala or McLeodganj to the village of Heini, which lies at the end of a rough jeep road. From there, we will transport your luggage and guide you on the ten-minute walk through Heini to Jagatram Niwas (stout footwear essential!)
