Welcome To Our Home Stay Guest House
Jagatram Niwas was founded in 2003 by the brothers Bavinder and Mohinder Singh, together with their wives Rekha and Santosh Devi. In 2007, they were joined by Matthew Singh Toor, who is helping to develop and market the guesthouse

Accommodation & Meals

Jagatram Niwas comprises two adjacent houses. The owners, Bavinder and Mohinder Singh, live on-site with their families, as next-door-neighbours. Their original family home (dating back 200 years) is three doors away, where their parents still live.

We have nine spacious guest rooms. Three of the rooms have double beds, attached Western-style bathroom with hot shower, and use of kitchen with fridge, toaster, kettle and gas burner. The other six twin and double rooms have use of four shared bathrooms; two Western- and two Indian-style.

All of our rooms have warm bedding, plenty of storage space and large shared terrace. Towels, laundry service and filtered water (reverse osmosis system) are all included.

We also provide torches for after-dark trips home. Mobile phone reception in the area is good, so you can contact us at any time during your stay.

Due to the nature of the terrain leading up to Heini, we are unable to provide access for wheelchair users at present. However, upon discussion, via phone or e-mail, we will endeavour to cater for any other special needs you may have.

Guests should also note that the walk down from Jagatram Niwas to Bhagsu is steep, and that the drive up to the guest house is up a very rough jeep road, and is followed by a five-to-ten-minute walk.

Both buildings have huge terraces, which are furnished for outdoor dining. Breakfast is included (porridge, eggs and toast or parantha), and a traditional Himachali thali can be provided for lunch/dinner on request. We also cater to special diets, upon prior arrangement.

Recycling

Himachal Pradesh has a “no plastic bags” policy. We go further and send any paper or card you discard during your stay to McLeodganj’s Environmental Education Centre and Green Shop, which produce hand-made paper products. Further, any vegetable waste produced during your stay will help feed our cow.
